Long House

Grade II listed thatched cottage.  This was a two-phased project, the first phase required the renovation of a cottage in the grounds of the main house to provide office and guest accommodation as well as changing facilities for the pool.  Interesting features were incorporated such as the large windows and ash stair/bookcase design.  This initial project allowed the clients to vacate the main house for the second phase which required the refurbishment of the main house including kitchens and bathroom. The main element of the work involved removing the external skin of a single-storey cat slide extension, under pinning and rebuilding in salvaged hand-made bricks to match the existing and create an upstairs bedroom.  The extension was then thatched including re-thatching existing roof and new ridge.  At the end of the project the outside walls were built and terraces formed to beautifully link the two cottages.
